2012.01.29 Craft Time! - Momma Bird Nest

One of my favorite people was home from college last Friday evening . . .

We spent some couch time together . . .
computers, eating, television, conversation, reading, chocolate.

And, then . . . craft time . . .
We followed the instructions found here:

We made Momma Bird Nests
and used them for a matched set of earrings and necklace (Anne) . . .

For earrings (me) . . .

And, I'm making these for my Christmas ornaments this year
(annual exchange in my family) . . .

Here they are all together; Anne and I had a great time making these!

2012.01.26 Making abstract photo art . . .

. . . using three photos and a texture
was the challenge this week at Pixel Dust Photo Art.

Here's my result . . .

The texture used was Pixel Dust Photo Art's Etched in Stone, blending mode was LinearLight.

The photos used and their relative layer positions:

[ flipped horizontally, 28% opacity, top layer ]

[ 39% opacity / middle layer ]

[ 2 of these, rotated, bottom layers ]

2012.01.26 It's not a night photo

I took this in late afternoon with the sun catching
the edges of the windows,
but with the processing . . . well, now it's a full moon night . . .

2012.01.24 What's inside?

Doors and windows always make me wonder . . . what's inside?

2012.01.16 Decorative cabbage

When visiting Anne last week,
one of the flower planters at a downtown street corner
was filled with decorative cabbage.

This photo was shot looking straight down into the planter.

Here are two altered versions of the same photo . . .

2012.01.13 Choose JOY . . .

. . . a reminder to myself.

While walking through a home improvement store,
I passed bathroom sinks . . .
the exotic kind . . .
and the pattern in this one
caught my attention.

Do you see her?

2012.01.12 Morning moon and evening moon

Leaving for work last Monday,
the moon was setting in the west.

I didn't want to be late, but I don't often seen the moon setting,
so . . . taken through my car's windshield . . .

Home from work, then a quick, wonderful dinner (thank you, Theresa!).

On our way to book group, Theresa and I did a brief detour near a couple of factories
and took these of the beautiful rising moon . . .

2012.01.07 Oh, my!

I blogged and photographed and photoshopped (that's a word, right?)
rather faithfully even through Christmas and the aftermath . . .
and then life and a seemingly endless to-do list
overwhelmed me.

But . . . a week later . . . now . . .
I feel almost caught up . . .
to the point that my list is back to manageable size.

So . . .
cyber-life resumes . . .

My fingernails have a cycle of strong, but flexible,
(which means some length and pretty polish)
and then they begin peeling, the length disappears,
and I'm constantly "catching" them on fabrics and yarns.
Until spring and sunshine arrive.

Today, I bought . . .

The box promises a smooth, chip-resistant surface,
long-lasting protection,
and to help nails grow longer and stronger.

The test begins.
